As part of a joint venture, BARC (Balfour Beatty/Azteca/Russel/CARCON) provided Pre-Construction Services and Construction Manager at Risk services for the DFW International Airport – Terminal Redevelopment program. Known as the TRIP Program, this multi-year, multi-million Dollar project focused on the renovation of Terminals A & C at DFW International Airport. The BARC team led 126 second-tier and 43 third-tier subcontractors through a 400,000-square-foot terminal renewal that posed unique hazards as well as the challenges that come with the demolition and rebuilding of mechanical, electrical, communications, security and fire protection systems in an active passenger airline terminal. Reusing the existing building significantly reduced the project’s carbon footprint and the use of high-performance glass, daylighting, LED and fluorescent lighting optimized energy performance. The project team diverted over 1,621 tons of metals from the landfill and returned $624,197 to the airport.
